Younique Moodstruck Addiction Shadow Palette | Review/AD

I always get excited about eyeshadows and has always been a staple in my everyday make up look and who doesn't love a bit of sparkle to brighten your day?  Younique have always been a brand I get most excited for and always eager to try out any new releases as I absolutely adored their last collection - you can read more here

Moodstruck Addiction Shadow Palette

These beautiful three new palettes are separated based on tones and shades
  • Palette 1: WARM with neutral tones

  • Palette 2: COOL with shades of black and silver

  • Palette 3: COOL with shades of pink and purple

From pearly greys, emerging blues and intense gold and chrome shades, these palettes cater for all moods and occasions, each palette also has a mix of matte and shimmer shades to allow you to create dimension and textures to your look. Every palette is high-pigmented, and so easy to blend not to mention all colours avaliable in each palette complement so well together there will be no need to jump to palette to palette!

If you do use the shimmer eyeshadows in dry form, it can tend to have a little fallout (so it may be wise to do your base make up after!)  But you can also apply these wet to create density colour brightness.

My Favourite?

The one I go to most often would be palette 1 - I love warm tones especially this time of year and a gold eye is one of my staples for an everyday make look up. I am most definitely looking forward to playing with palette 2 to create a smokey eye for the upcoming festive season. Along with these amazing eyeshadows, Younique also have new lip liners and lipsticks of beautiful berry and red tones which is also going on to my Christmas list!

Have a look at their recent collection from creamy foundations, to vibrant lip products and of course these sparkly eyes not only will you be all set for your festive look but these will also make great Christmas gifts too !

What is the BEST Dead Sea Mud Facial Mask?

Dead Sea Mud Mask

Dead Sea Mud Facial Mask

There are so many face masks - where to start? A great face mask is perfect for this time of year to get rid of those impurities not to mention those blackheads.. But if your like me and have tried and tested how do we know which one is ideal for us?

From clay to cream to easy peels, you want a mask that not only shows you results but is worth our cash, through much testing scroll down to reveal the perfect mud mask that will suit and cater to all.

Instanatural Dead Sea Mud Mask (£21.95)
This brand as a whole provides a range of beautiful skincare products that are organic and use raw ingredients you can read more here on their other products I am in love with.

This beautiful mud mask is a deep cleanser and a natural moisturiser that will provide benefits for all skin types, not only it is a pore reducer but contains a blend of ingredients such as organic shea butter, jojoba oil and aloe vera. Not only is this 100% natural, it is absolutely great for acne and blemishes, and purifies the skin by removing excess dirt as well as reduces any fine lines in our skin.

This is my first time using a organic mud mask, ones I have tried before often left a stinging sensation, therefore I was cautious in trying this.

But I was ultimately surprised when applying this, it almost felt soothing when rubbed onto the skin and was so easy to blend. I had no reaction whatsoever it was quite the opposite, it felt comfortable and could feel it rejuvenating the skin within the first 5 minutes. Once rinsed with warm water and pat dry, instantly saw the results, my skin looked a lot clearer, fresher and brand new.  For great effects you only need to do this once a week or every two weeks.

ALSO.. the packaging?!?! For only £21.95 this tub is huge and will surely last you a long while and is such great value. Ultimately this is a beautiful product that has now proudly become one of my holy grails.

Tips on how to say 'No'

Saying “no” can be empowering — Not only is it an assertive act but it allows you take a stand for your own well-being. Each time you say the word “no,” you are telling yourself (and others!) that your needs are important too. Learning to say “no” will help you to set your own boundaries, sets your needs and lets you focus on the activities that bring you happiness and fulfillment.

What sparked this post to share - I had an incident recently where I was approached by a sales person, it was for one of those makeovers/photo shoots. My mistake was stopping rather than walking by with "No thank you" Instead I felt trapped by this sales person trying to get me to join this venture, I did admittedly say 'No' a couple of times, but did not appear to be assertive enough - to cut a long story short I ended up getting bought into this idea without feeling I had a choice and was left feeling defeated and being hard on myself.

This is why boundaries are so important especially if you already know in your heart of what the answer is to whatever it may be. Its always important to put yourself first.

"It is difficult to set bounds to the price unless you first set bounds to the wish."

October Skincare Favourites

Its that time to share some of my favourites, this month in particular I have been obsessed with skincare and wanted to highlight this in a separate post. As we get older its even more important to look after our skin. My skin is constantly changing from dry to combination now oily I have had to change many of my products to adapt to my skin.

So without further ado here are some products I am loving!

Botanics Rosewater Spritz Toner (£5.99)
This is a new product I have just started using. Spritz toners are so lovely to use especially as part of your night time routine - I used to use a Vitamin C Toner which was lovely (but rather expensive to keep restocking!) so I found this perfect dupe. I use this after I wash and cleanse. Not only does it keep the skin hydrated it also helps remove any unwanted make up and love how the skin feels smoother, fresher and creates a perfect base for moisturising.

Olay 2in1 Hydration & Radiant Glow (£9.99)
As my usual moisturiser of Estee Lauder Clear Difference Gel ran out!, my budget lets say was on the low side so needed to find something to replace in the meantime but still create a glow to my face as well as abase for my make up. And I found this limited edition from Olay. Its a lovely light moisturiser  t - I was quite surprised with as its cream based not gel, it absorbed in the skin perfectly and did not leave the skin feeling greasy or oily.

Lush Grease Lightning (£5.99)
This would have to be my top favourite of this month, those of you who suffer with acne/spots or frequent breakouts this is a must have!  It has a powerful combination of ingredients to help zap those pesky things away. Ingredients such as rosemary, thyme and tea tree it helps not only to minimize the appearance but also soothes redness. I notice a difference in my skin after 2 days, I apply this twice a day after my moisturiser and I just love it.

Botanics Cleansing Cream (£3.99)
So you may have or may not read a recent post about Facial Wipes as I was writing that post I thought to go down the route of trying to remove my make up by either using a cleansing balm or lotion. And I have been proven right (even though you use a lot more cotton wool/pads!) it is so much gentler on the skin and removes even my mascara perfectly. If you are looking for something inexpensive this beautiful cleansing cream does the perfect job. This would definitely give higher brands a run for their money.

Nivea Body Cream (£3.75)
This is a oldie but goodie. Now we are in a colder season, I love using thicker creams and this cream is always a product I go back to, its rich and creamy in consistency and absorbs into the skin lovely. Only downside it can be a little greasy when first applied but once dried your skin will feel so soft.

This has been my trusty night eye cream for as long as I can remember, Simple is one of those trusted brands we all know and love and is perfect for all skin types too. I apply this softly around the eye area at night and love the instant fresh feeling, it helps to reduce puffiness and helps tired eyes (something we all need!) It just soothes the skin. It does not help to remove dark circles, but does make the skin feel a lot more softer and vibrant.

What skincare favourites have you been loving this month?

Do you love Facial Wipes?

Facial Wipes will always be a controversial product when it comes to our daily morning or night routine, I for one do use these on a regularly basis as they are quick and easy to use. However ... there are things we do need to be aware of and some little tips you can use too!

1. Wiping Bacteria
As these are used to help remove make up, make sure to always use a clean side of the wipe when removing, if you constantly using the same side you are essentially wiping your days make up as well as any grease and dirt which may have built up during the day which can cause breakouts.

2. Do not use on delicate areas
Delicate areas such as our eyes, the texture of the facial wipes can be rough and as our eyes are the most sensitive, if rubbed too hard, not only are you making the skin sore but can create wrinkles and fine lines. (Which we definitely don't want!)

Tip: If you do use these around the eye area try applying an organic oil to the wipe such as jojoba, argan or even a cleansing lotion this will help soften the facial wipe, and help glide off the make up easily not to mention waterproof make up too.

3. Always wash and cleanse
This is probably an obvious one, after using wipes, ensure to always wash and cleanse the skin thoroughly. Of course facial wipes do not remove everything (pretty much the top layer) and do have a deep cleanse I always use a cleansing gel which acts as a facial wash then a cleanser/micellar water to help remove any excess dirt - this will help the skin be prepped and clean for your moisturiser and/or facial oils.

Ideally, cleansing balms or lotions can be more effective and gentler on the skin. But.. by using the tips above, not only can you continue to use facial wipes in your routine but you are also being more gentle to your skin too.

My favourite facial wipes to use are Simple Cleansing Wipes or B Pure Micellar Cleansing Wipes I find they are a lot softer than most and also very wet in consistency and not drying.

What do you think of Facial Wipes?

The perfect skincare dupe | Botanics

I happen to randomly pick these products up from boots, I had at the time ran out of some of my essentials and was in desperate need of dupes until payday. Botanics is Boots own brand and can cater your specific skin type whether your skin is normal, dry, combination or oily they also cater for mature skin for radiant youth.

I wanted to try a cleansing lotion/cream to help remove my make up instead of facial wipes, which is what I have been currently using, we all know facial wipes is one of those products that are hit or miss but over time can be rough to your skin. Using a small amount on a cotton pad, this lovely cleanser easily removes all makeup and oil from the skin. I loved the fresh feeling it gave and even more it removed mascara with so much ease.

Ingredients such Hibiscus acts as a natural brightening booster, something we all crave for our skin, my skin felt a lot smoother, brighter and has made a lovely addition to my night care routine.

Nothing is better than a spraying toner especially after a long day, this can be generously applied after cleansing, not only does it tighten pores but helps removes any last traces of make up. My skin instantly felt hydrated and refreshed and creates a lovely base for your moisturiser

I have tried many facial oils from natural argan and jojoba as lovely as these are it did tend to leave the skin feeling greasy. This organic facial oil containing rosehip and omega oils is a lovely boost to the skin and can be part of your morning and night routine. After the first time using this, I could see a dramatic difference the next morning, my skin felt a lot more smoother, brighter and supple - my skin looked so much healthy and vibrant which after one use is more than I could imagine, more so my blemishes and redness looked a lot more calmer - this was one product I was surprised with in terms of its result.

Boots currently having a offer on this range and you can get 1/3 of its price which is a bonus! Pick up some of these now whilst you can.

So you Overslept? | How to get ready in minutes..

Ever had mornings where you woken up late or you just suddenly realise time is running out. I have some tips for achieving a polished look when you only have a matter of minutes.. (something I am still trying to adopt?!?)

Make up
This is probably the hardest for me - I find it so hard to not leave the house with a full face, but when I am pressed for time, I reach for the simple basics.

  • Even your skin tone: I either use a Foundation or BB Cream to achieve a good base
  • Battle those dark circles: I use a concealer for brightening and covering any redness
  • Powder: To set everything in place
  • Brightening those cheeks: I would reach for either my Bronzer or Blusher for warmth/depth
  • Mascara: To open up those eyes
  • Brow Pencil: We all know even the most basics of looks are not complete without brows
  • Lip balm/gloss: To finish everything off a lovely neutral lip

Don't overthink your outfit
When your rushed, its so important to feel good but still achieving that 'polished' look without anyone knowing you just threw it on in 5 minutes. Usually I prepare my outfit the night before, BUT if you don't have time or forget to do this, here are some tips on how to create this without getting into a fluster and trying every thing you own!

  • Sticking to only 1 or 2 items: This could be a tee with jeans, a dress and tights, skirt and a jumper - whatever it may be, try and keep it as minimalist as possible. The more items you wear and layer this is where indecisiveness kicks in and you will never achieve a simple look.
  • Stripes: I absolutely love stripes and always brings something different to an outfit, whether its pairing a stripe tee with jeans or a cute tunic, stripes are not only flattering but looks like you put thought into your outfit.
  • Sticking to neutral/basics colours: Sometimes when throwing in colour, this can put a spanner in the works and you end up trying to figure out what complements each other, stick to your neutrals such as cream, white and black.
  • Wear all Black: If all fails, you can never go wrong with black - I always go to this colour when I seem to never find anything to wear, its slimming, flattering and perfect for this season
  • Comfortable Footwear: The last thing we want to think about is our footwear, always go to the shoe that pretty much goes with everything, and something that's comfortable to walk in and is your staple item. Such as white sneakers or black ankle boots.

Now this is a easy one.... I have had many times where I've only had 10 minutes (if that!) to do my hair. Here are some quick tips:

  • Curls: Believe it or not this can be done so quickly, the trick is to only curl the ends of your hair, or at least from midway you can use either a straightener or curler, depends what you are comfortable with and go round the hair picking up big strands, once done, finger comb to create that effortless bounce look. To hold everything in place, I usually use a hair wax, but hairspray is good too
  • Hollywood Bun: This is perfect if your hair is greasy, you simply brush your hair up into a ponytail and then wrap the hair round the band and either secure with another or place a number of pins to hold into place, hairspray and comb the edges for a smooth look then your done
  • Classic Ponytail: You can never go wrong with a simple ponytail. Sleek back and secure with a band and hairspray into place.
  • Bed Hair: If time is really against you, embrace your bed hair, it would of been styled the night before, all you need is too add some texture such as hair wax, gel or spray and scrunch in your hair to have the 'tousled' look

So here are just a few tips you can take with you when one of those mornings happen!
Tip: Remember  to keep it simple...
